This site was conceived in an attempt to preserve, via images, the memory and remains of the many former RAF airfields. My interest lies within the former Bomber Command airfields around Lincolnshire, Yorkshire and Nottinghamshire / Derbyshire. However images of airfields from different commands and / or regions will be included as I travel around. Sometimes a return visit to an airfield site has been made, this is usually with maps and further information. As a result a collection entitled "revisited" will appear, these contain more photos than the original collection as the airfield has been explored in greater depth.
As well as airfields I will also be adding collections of other installations. These will include bomb dumps, POW camps and others.
Any of the photographs taken by myself may be reproduced and used providing permission is first sought and the images are credited to myself and this site. Photographs taken by other people are credited to them and remain their copyright.
Please feel free to comment on any of the pictures, also any corrections or additions to the captions, or any questions would be most welcome. I would also be pleased to hear from anyone who was based at any of the airfields, or from any relatives.
